On Monday 15th May 2023 Lodge of Merit No. 934 celebrated the 50th Golden Jubilee for a very special member of the lodge.
WBro James (Jim) Hodge PProvSGW, is one of the most iconic members of Lodge of Merit and the evening was certainly a night to remember.

The Worshipful Master offered the gavel to the APGM WBro John A Griffin PSGD which he graciously accepted before occupying the chair to conduct this Golden Jubilee celebration.
The Lodge room was full, with members from many other Lodges in attendance, a real mark of the man of the moment.
The minutes from the meeting 50 years ago in which WBro Hodge was initiated were read out by the Lodge secretary WBro Michael Gibbons, after which he delivered a personal and fitting tribute to WBro Hodge, for his many years of service to Freemasonry, but also all his personal achievements, it was clear to see by everyone present that both of them had built up a true bond of friendship, in and out of the Craft.
The APGM then gave a fitting tribute to WBro Hodge for all of his dedication and achievements during 50 years in Freemasonry
The Assistant Provincial Grand Master then read out the 50th Golden Jubilee Illuminated Certificate before presenting it to Jim.
The Deputy District Chairman WBro Rob Ashton then presented Jim with a special 50th Anniversary lapel badge.
WBro Hodge was then escorted around the lodge, by the Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies to the acclamation of all the brethren.
The deputation then retired and the Worshipful Master closed the lodge.
The social board was a very happy and joyous occasion the dining room was full with a most fabulous atmosphere, everyone present was treated to a fabulous 5 course meal.
The formal toast to WBro Hodge’s health was proposed by WBro Steven Flanagan, in a very personal manner and was received with warmth, after which several presentations from the Lodge to Jim took place.
WBro Hodge responded in a most suitable manner, at the conclusion of which he received a standing ovation by all present.
